WHO IS BRINGING WHAT DONATIONS?????
The humanitarian portion of the 2023 Cuba trip left a lasting impression on me. I take a lot of dive travel trips each year, and I usually skip most of the land based options. Cuba was different and I am looking forward to repeating the experience. Last year, we all brought some items to make care packages to give out to the locals. Kamala decided to make the donations in the small village where the boat is docked, and that was an excellent choice. After spending a few days in Havana, we were surprised at how little access most people had to basic items such as toiletries and simple medicines. The people living in remote areas of Cuba have even less. Things that we take for granted here at home are often extremely limited in supply or totally non existent in Cuba. Every time I head to the store, I pick us several items to bring with me next month. That allows me to contribute more stuff without feeling like I just spent a lot of money that I may not have available at the moment.
Below is a list of what I currently have ready to pack. Hopefully it gives others an idea of what they can bring to help the people of Cuba.
